Such a multi-dimensional image, it’s intriguing - full of atmosphere.

Thanks, I'm glad that came across.

Gorgeous photos and words. I've been feeling a bit sad about spring's swift passing, and I share those feelings about early spring. It's like I start missing it while it's still here. I'd like to work on not doing that.

Totally agree - it's such a strange sort of melancholy and I feel it acutely too... like knowing there's only a finite number of times in my life I'll be able to witness these blooms is a reminder that our days, years are numbered. I'm not sure how to get out of this mentality.

Maybe it's enough just to recognize it? It encourages me to be present. I do appreciate so many things more deeply than I did when time still felt infinite.

Yes I think you are on the right track here. It’s a lesson from nature, to be sure, and I think not resisting the melancholy but using it as a means to appreciation sounds like an outlook I can try on and get comfortable with.

My partner and I also enjoy “forest bathing” and I definitely feel both a calm and an invigoration moving through most natural spaces.

Really love your stream shot. It’s always wonderful when a body of water gets that deep organic tint and the whole of its surroundings are captured in its “mirror”. I think of them as portals. The water’s edge as a liminal space.

Thanks Davin, that's exactly it, and it's all a product of angles and light. I love the serendipity and magic at play. Come back another time and those portals have closed.

A lovely positive image for 1st June. Love the colour and multi layers. Wish OUR forest was as pretty at the moment! SCB

The stream shot is delicious. I love the mix of surface and reflected elements, the mildly silhouetted leaves at the top, the strongly backlit ones in the middle and the frontlit leaves at the bottom. Then there is the light itself, a dynamic range cast in zones of exposures. The sky in the water, the leaves upon the surface, shafts of light somehow floating through the air. There is so much to look at here. Up is down and down is up. It plays with my senses. It encourages me to let go. To dive deeply into it. The interplay of light, colour and form is captivating.

What a wonderful photo. It transported me back to childhood and the joy of exploring the forest behind our house on long Saturday afternoons.

The textures in this month's photo are great. It reads like an impressionist painting. Also, I love a good story about little pockets of wilderness in New Jersey, they always put a smile on my face.

Nice post. I live nearby so I visit The Celery Farm frequently.

It’s such a great local place to escape to and you’ve conveyed that very well.
